Moving from the bedside — or from clinical leadership and operations — into health technology is not a straightforward path. Nursing expertise is needed at the forefront of tech development, but the process of getting there is opaque in ways that have nothing to do with whether you are qualified.
I made that transition, and I had help along the way. A friend in nursing school told me something that has stayed with me: the best way to advocate is to forge a path, and then turn around and raise others up — because not everyone has the opportunity to do the forging on their own.
That is what this is. I have been lucky to have had the help and coaching along the way, and I know that without it, there's no way in. If you are a nurse who knows you have something to offer in tech and you are trying to figure out how to make it happen, I want to help you get there.
